**Summary of Customizing the Global Search Bar in Salesforce** In Salesforce, the global search feature allows users to quickly find records based on field values. When a user searches for a term, like "John," Salesforce displays matching records from various objects along with relevant field information. This helps users identify the correct records without navigating through different sections. Recently, there was a need to enhance the global search by adding specific fields, such as "Billing Country," to improve the categorization of customer data, especially for international clients. As a Salesforce admin, I customized the global search bar to ensure that sales users see only the necessary fields when searching. **Steps to Customize the Global Search Bar:** 1. Log in to Salesforce and go to the Setup page. 2. Click on "Object Manager" and select the object you want to customize (e.g., Campaign). 3. Choose "Search Layouts" to access the customization options. 4. Select the layout you wish to edit and click the "Edit" button. 5. In the Edit Search Layout window, add the desired field (e.g., Parent Campaign ID) and save your changes. This customization improves user experience by making it easier to find relevant records directly from the global search. **Conclusion** Customizing the global search bar in Salesforce enhances the efficiency of finding records by displaying relevant fields. This guide provides a clear understanding of how to make these customizations for better data management. **Additional Context** Salesforce is a widely used customer relationship management (CRM) platform that helps organizations manage customer data, sales processes, and marketing efforts. Customizing features like the global search bar can significantly improve user productivity and satisfaction. **Hashtags for SEO:** #Salesforce #GlobalSearch #CRM #SalesforceCustomization #UserExperience #DataManagement #SalesforceAdmin #SearchLayouts #CustomerData #SalesforceTips

In Salesforce, to find the records, we use the global search based on the field values. As a result, global search displays the records from Salesforce objects that match the search text.

The displayed records also show some fields and their values, allowing the user to easily find records with the necessary fields without needing to navigate to that particular object.

For example, when we search for “John” in the global search, Salesforce displays standard and custom object records, along with some fields. From there, we need to select the correct record.

The requirement was that I needed to add some necessary fields to the global search so that whenever a user searches for a record, the added fields would also display with that record in the global search.

As a Salesforce admin, to fulfill this requirement, I customized the global search bar so that sales users only see the necessary fields on the global search result. Now, when they type “John”, they see the correct customer record directly.

In this article, we will learn about how to customize the global search bar in Salesforce. In that, I will provide a detailed explanation of global search and how it can be helpful in Salesforce.

Why do we need to Customize the Salesforce Global Search Bar?

While working in sales for an organization that uses Salesforce CRM to manage and track customer data, we recently received an update to customize the global search bar.

When the organization began serving international customers and clients, it was necessary to add a new field, Billing Country, rather than using the existing field, Billing Cities, to categorize customers’ data by country.
